The Guthrie Nursing Scholars Program provides participants up to $65,000 in sponsorship funding towards their education in exchange for a 2-3 year, full-time work commitment at a hospital within The Guthrie Clinic system after graduation.
The Guthrie Clinic, a nationally recognized non-profit integrated health care system, includes 6 hospital campuses, a large medical group, home health, long-term care and hospice services in Pennsylvania and New York. Complete Your Application
Applications are reviewed quarterly and are intended to be simple and streamlined. Advisors are available to answer questions and offer support at each step along the way.

Have The Guthrie Clinic Sponsor Your Education
If you are accepted and commit to the Guthrie Nursing Scholars Program, The Guthrie Clinic will repay your loan funding, up to the agreed-upon amount, over the course of your work commitment.

Launch Your Career as a Guthrie Nursing Scholar
Secure early employment and opportunities to connect with your future employer and colleagues. If plans change and you don’t complete your work commitment, you will not be required to repay any funding already received.
Who’s Eligible
You must meet the following criteria:
- Be accepted to or already enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree nursing program at a participating college or university
- Be in good academic standing with a GPA of at least 2.9
- Be a United States Citizen, Permanent Resident, or with residency under DACA or TPS programs
Apply to the Program
To apply for the The Guthrie Nursing Scholars Program, you must provide the following:
- Short written essay
- Brief video personal statement
- Unofficial transcript

Additional Application & Program Details
Your salary and benefits will be competitive and on par with your peers. They will not be affected by participation in the program, as this is meant to be an added benefit. Beyond your sponsorship, this program does not provide additional sign-on bonuses.
You can voluntarily choose to leave the program at any time. If you do so before completing your work commitment, you forfeit any further loan repayments made on your behalf.
Similarly, if you involuntarily leave the program at any time by violating the terms of your employment (e.g., failing to remain in good academic standing, violating college policy, being found unfit to practice which would result in termination), you forfeit any further loan repayments made on your behalf.
You may be subject to income tax for some or all of the loan payments made by the Nursing Scholars Program on your behalf. You should consult with a tax professional if you have any questions regarding the tax implications of the Nursing Scholars Program.
